Mr. Buddy Ivie’s story begins in the rural ranching community of Shoshoni, Wyoming, where he learned the values of hard work, perseverance, and community. His journey into education began in 2000 as a basketball coach at Springville High School, followed by a position at Mountain View High School in Orem, Utah. After earning his degree in History Education from Utah Valley University, he continued to grow professionally, obtaining a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration.
Family is at the heart of Mr. Ivie’s life. He takes immense pride in being a husband and father to four remarkable children, whose support and love remain his greatest source of inspiration.
In 2006, Mr. Ivie joined Freedom Prep Academy as a 6th-grade teacher. Over the past 19 years, he has served in numerous roles, including teaching grades 6th through 11th, Principal, and even stepping in as Junior High Cheer Coach until a replacement was found. Currently, he serves as Director of Operations and as the concurrent enrollment History 1700 teacher through UVU. His leadership, dedication, and adaptability have made a lasting impact on the Freedom Prep community. While awards and recognitions have marked his career, Mr. Ivie considers his greatest achievements to be the relationships he has built with students, staff, and families and the role he has played in helping students find success.
Mr. Ivie’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that education is more than academics; it is about fostering growth, creating meaningful connections, and empowering individuals to reach their full potential. His vision is to nurture an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and capable of success.
Outside of work, Mr. Ivie enjoys spending time with his family, embracing outdoor adventures, and cheering on his favorite sports teams. His commitment to family, students, and the broader school community reflects his passion for service, leadership, and creating a positive impact wherever he goes.
