I am a proud native of Washington State, but my journey as an educator, mother, and community member has led me to several places that have shaped who I am today. My academic journey began at Brigham Young University, leading to a bachelor's degree in elementary education, a reading endorsement, and a master's degree in teacher leadership from Utah Valley University. Then, I earned my administrative license through Utah State University. These academic experiences have not only given me the knowledge and skills to excel but also deepened my passion for learning and personal growth.
My teaching career began in Virginia, where I discovered my love for education. I was eager to make a difference in the lives of young people and soon transitioned to Washington, where I continued my work as a teacher. But in 2004, a new chapter began for my family. My husband, four daughters, and I packed our lives into boxes and moved to Utah. For the past 21 years, we have called Provo our home, and it has been a place where we have found roots, forged deep relationships, and built a life that reflects our values and passions.
In 2006, I joined Freedom Prep Academy, a place that has become my second home, and I hold it dear to my heart. My long-term commitment and passion for the future of this school are unwavering. Over the years, I have served in a variety of roles, each one enriching my experience and strengthening my commitment to this wonderful school community. From my beginnings as a classroom teacher to later taking on the roles of librarian, gifted and talented director, and curriculum director.
Education is not just a profession to me; it is a lifelong passion and calling. The experiences I have gained over my 20+ years in education have shaped my ability to contribute meaningfully to Freedom Prep's future, ensuring that its mission and vision continue to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for our students. Through my work, I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions, embrace learning, and create environments that foster growth and success for all.
While my work and education have always been important to me, my family has always come first. Outside of my professional life, I find joy in spending time with my loved ones. Whether it's reading a book with one of my grandchildren, baking delicious treats for the family, hiking the scenic trails of Utah, playing at a beach, spending time in Disneyland, or celebrating holidays with a full house, these are the moments that bring me true joy and fulfillment.
