Academic Intervention Paraprofessional - Part Time

Freedom Preparatory Academy’s elementary campuses are looking for cheerful, hardworking, and dependable individuals to join our team as part-time paraprofessionals. These individuals will support student learning through one on one and small group instruction as well as assist classroom teachers. These individuals should be flexible, organized, collaborative, and have experience working with children. 

Qualifications include an associate’s degree or being willing and able to pass the paraprofessional test as well as take and pass a state background check (both completed at personal expense).

Freedom Preparatory Academy, a well-established and accredited K–12 public charter school, is seeking a dedicated and passionate part-time Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Special Education team at our St. George campus.

Position Overview

The Occupational Therapist will provide direct and consultative services to students with diverse needs, helping them develop the fine motor, sensory, and functional skills necessary for success in academic, social, and daily living tasks. This role involves collaboration with teachers, families, and related service providers to ensure each student can access their education and reach their potential.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Conduct evaluations and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans based on student needs and IEP goals.

✔ Provide direct therapy services and monitor student progress through data collection and compliant documentation.

✔ Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and parents to integrate therapeutic strategies into classroom and daily routines.

✔ Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise in fine motor, sensory, and functional skill development.

✔ Ensure all documentation and eligibility determinations comply with IDEA and Utah State Board of Education (USBE) Special Education Rules.

✔ Promote inclusive practices, student independence, and skill generalization across environments.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.

  • Current Utah Occupational Therapist license (or eligibility to obtain).

  • Utah Educator License preferred.

  • Knowledge of school-based OT services, including eligibility criteria, IDEA compliance, and USBE documentation requirements.

  • Experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings preferred.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
