“The experience with Standards Based Grading is mixed. I love the system itself because it shows a students worth in a different way. Students learn in many different ways and this can help show those who do not do well with paper assignments, drawing, presentations, and etc. Some problems with this system is that it needs more time. For example, some students don’t know how this 1-2-3-4 is translated to letter grades for colleges and other schools (not everybody is using it). Eventually, I hope this becomes a standard in all schools to grade based on “how you can show you know it”. I love this system it just needs time!”

“I feel like it’s more control of what you know and not that you got it in on time or that it’s perfect. I don’t feel as stressed with this grading system and I feel more in control. I do feel a little confused sometimes on what I specifically need to do to achieve standard based grading but I think as it becomes more used it will work itself out. Overall I feel like the standard based grading system is a new style that needs to be implemented and will be great help to students at our school.”
