Amanda Gabbitas

I'm Mrs. Gabbitas, and I am the high school counselor at the FPA secondary campus. I grew up in Michigan, earned my bachelor's degree at Utah Valley University, then moved to Flagstaff, AZ where I earned my school counseling degree at Northern Arizona University and started my career as a school counselor. I joined the FPA team in 2018, and I love where I work! I enjoy playing volleyball, hiking, watching movies, and going on adventures with my husband and three children. My role at FPA includes providing academic and college/career counseling to high school students. I look forward to working with you!

Hi everyone! I've been the middle school counselor at Freedom Prep since 2023 and have worked in the school setting since 2015. I earned my undergraduate degree from BYU in 2014 and completed my master’s in School Counseling at Rocky Mountain University in 2023.

At Freedom Prep, I provide academic and mental health counseling for students in grades 6–8 and handle schedule changes for 7th and 8th graders. I truly enjoy being part of our incredible counseling team and feel lucky to work with such amazing students every day.

Outside of school, I love playing with my two cute kids, hiking, playing volleyball, musical theater, and enjoying a good piece of dark chocolate. 🙂

Secondary Social Worker

Lainy Barrick

Hi! I'm Ms. Barrick! I'm a school social worker for 6th-12th graders at Freedom Prep.  I love being in nature, learning new things, and reading. On weekends you can find me in the mountains with my dog or working on an arts and crafts project.

At school, I’m here to support students—whether they're having a tough day or need someone to talk to. I provide long-term mental health counseling and help connect students and their families with helpful resources. I also serve as the advisor for the High School Hope Squad. I love what I do and truly care about the students I work with.

Elementary Social Worker

Kaylen Perez

Hi there! I'm Ms. Perez, the elementary school social worker here at Freedom Prep. Academy.  I grew up in sunny Southern California, where I developed a deep appreciation for the beach and a love for travel. These experiences have shaped my understanding of diverse cultures and the importance of community, which I bring into my work every day.

With a background in social work and a passion for supporting young learners, I strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels heard and valued. Whether it's providing individual support, facilitating group sessions, or connecting families with resources, I'm here to help our students thrive both academically and personally.

When I'm not at school, you can find me planning my next adventure, enjoying the outdoors, or spending quality time with friends and family. I'm excited to be part of the Freedom Prep. community and look forward to working together to support our students' success.
